Trunks joins the fight in new 'Dragon Ball FighterZ' gameplay trailer

July 17 (UPI) -- Time-traveling hero Trunks is the latest playable character announced for publisher Bandai Namco's upcoming fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ.

The Super Saiyan son of Vegeta is seen battling his father and other Dragonball Z characters such as his arch-nemesis Cell and the villainous Frieza in a new gameplay trailer released Sunday.

Trunks displays his signature moves from the long-running anime series in the clip as he uses his signature sword and energy attacks to defeat his opponents.

Trunks was announced for Dragon Ball FighterZ by the title's producer Tomoko Hiroki during the 2017 Evo fighting game tournament. Trunks will be available to play during the upcoming closed beta for the game that fans can begin to register for on July 26.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to release for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC in early 2018.
