June 20 (UPI) -- Actor Miles Teller was arrested Sunday in San Diego for public intoxication.

The Divergent star was approached by police after he was seen having trouble keeping his balance, Billy Hernandez, a spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department said to People magazine.

Teller was offered to sleep it off inside a detox center however the 30-year-old refused.

"He was taken to the detox center where he was uncooperative and the staff rejected him. He was then arrested and transported to the local jail where he was booked," Hernandez said. Teller was later released.

On Twitter Monday, Teller dismissed reports that he had been arrested writing, "Went down to SD to see my buddy before he deployed. I wasn't arrested I was detained bc there was no evidence to charge me with a crime."

"Don't believe everything you read, especially from a third party entertainment news source trying to get clicks. Appreciate the concern," he continued.
