May 29 (UPI) -- Angelina Jolie is feeling the loss of her late mom amid her divorce.

The 41-year-old actress discussed late mom, Marcheline Bertrand, in an interview with Elle France following her split from husband Brad Pitt.

"She would have thrived as a grandmother," Jolie, who shares six children with Pitt, said of Bertrand. "I know how much she would have contributed to their lives and I am sad they will miss out on that."

"I would give anything for her to be with me at this time. I've needed her," she confessed. "I talk to her often in my mind and try to think what she might say and how she might guide me."

Bertrand, an actress who appeared in the films Lookin' to Get Out and The Man Who Loved Women, died at age 56 in 2007 after a long battle with cancer. Jolie recently said her mom inspired her new Guerlain campaign.

"It was a brand my mother loved, so I knew it from my childhood," the star said in the May issue of Marie Claire.

"She was a very natural woman who never spoiled herself, never wore makeup, and wore modest jewelry, but she always had a few special items for when she wanted to feel like a lady," she added.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September after two years of marriage and a decade together. The actress celebrated daughter Shiloh's 11th birthday Friday at Disneyland with her other children and friends from Cambodia.

"All [Shiloh] wanted for her birthday was to see her friends from Cambodia," a source told People of Shiloh, whose brother Maddox was adopted from the Southeast Asian country. "She wants to show them America."
