May 15 (UPI) -- Terri Irwin was planning on having a third child with her late husband Steve Irwin prior to his death in 2006, the naturalist shared recently.

"I said to Steve, 'Let's have a third,'" Terri said to E! News over the weekend during the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Los Angeles.

"And he said, 'You have a girl and you have a boy. What are you hoping for?'" Terri said of Steve's response.

The 52-year-old also discussed being a single mom to her children Bindi and Robert Irwin stating "I think the secret is love at first sight," when asked about parenting tips. "Some people don't believe in it, and then you have a baby and fall in love with this person the way you never knew you could love somebody."

"Steve said to me how excited he was when Bindi was born. He said, 'Do you think we could have a boy?' And then Robert was born, and they're perfect. They're easy kids; they're wonderful to me; they're such a help," she continued.

On Thursday, Bindi set the record straight on rumors that her mother has been dating actor Russell Crowe.

"My dad is still very much my mum's soulmate," Bindi said. "Mum always says they'll always be married. To her, they're always going to be together. In this life and the next, they're a couple and a team."

"We do love Russell, but mum and Russell aren't actually in love," the 18-year-old continued. "Russell is a wonderful wildlife warrior. He was a dear friend of dad's and now a dear friend of ours. He feels like family to us, but mum and Russell? Just friends, for sure."
