Lawsuit halts delivery of Prince EP 'Deliverance'

April 20 (UPI) -- A new collection of unreleased Prince music may remain just that.

The title track from Deliverance was pulled from streaming services Wednesday after the musician's estate filed a federal lawsuit against the sound engineer behind the EP's release.

George Ian Boxill faces legal action for releasing the tracks without permission. He was ordered to turn over all recordings to the estate but refused.

Deliverance included six previously unheard tracks recorded from 2006-2008. A news release promoting the EP said Prince and Boxill co-wrote and co-produced the tracks and "the majority of the sales" would benefit the late artist's estate.

The EP was scheduled for release Friday, one year after Prince's death.

Prince, 57, died April 21, 2016, at his Paisley Park compound in the Minneapolis suburb of Chanhassen.
