"It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship," the couple said.

"Our priority is, of course, our daughter's happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family," they added.

Schwimmer and Buckman, who married in June 2010, share 5-year-old daughter Cleo. The pair met in in London in 2007 while Schwimmer was directing the romantic comedy Run, Fatboy, Fun.

"They'll be taking some time to decide how best to move forward as a family and, whatever the outcome, they will continue to raise their daughter as a team," a source told Page Six.

Schwimmer is best known for playing Ross Gellar on the sitcom Friends, which had a 10-season run on NBC. He recently reunited with former co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry, as Kudrow shared in February.
