The 47-year-old actor responded Saturday on Twitter after the 45-year-old Canadian Prime Minister challenged him to a rematch of a fight they had as children.
"@JustinTrudeau I think I will pass at your request for a rematch kind sir (given that you currently have an army at your disposal)," Perry wrote.
Trudeau asked for a rematch Friday after Perry shared the story of their fight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March. The prime minister referenced Perry's Friends character, Chandler Bing, in his tweet.
"I've been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn't wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch @MatthewPerry?" he wrote.
Perry grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, and attended Rockcliffe Park Public School with Trudeau. He said on the March 15 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he was in the fifth grade when he and a friend beat up the future prime minister.
"I have a story about him that I'm not proud of," the actor admitted. "My friend Chris Murray, who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau."
"I don't know [why]," he confessed. "I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren't [as good at], so it was pure jealousy."
