The 59-year-old actor and producer said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that Reynolds prepared to "leave" after his sister and Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher died in December.

"We were talking [the night Carrie died] and I didn't know what was happening, but she was setting me up for her leaving the planet," Fisher said.

"She starts running me back through her estate, which we had done many times. [She's like], 'You're going to take my dog,' and, you know, all these little instructions," he recalled. "I thought that we were just going through these events ... but instead the next morning, we had a little further dialogue and she chose to leave the planet."

"It looked like she asked permission to leave, told me she was going to leave, told me she loved me, closed her eyes, and went to sleep," the star shared.

Reynolds, an actress best known for Singin' in the Rain, died of a stroke Dec. 28 at age 84. She passed just one day after Carrie Fisher died of cardiac arrest at age 60.

"She wanted to be with Carrie," Fisher told Variety after his mom's death.

Fisher will host a public memorial service for his mom and sister on Saturday at the Freedom Theater at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. Carrie Fisher is also survived by her daughter, 24-year-old actress Billie Lourd.
