March 9 (UPI) -- Batman assembles his team to confront a returning Superman in the newest cinematic trailer for DC Comics' upcoming fighting game sequel, Injustice 2.

The clip, released Thursday, begins with Batman's alter ego Bruce Wayne explaining to politicians where Superman went wrong and why he needed to be detained following the events of the first game.

"Superman's behind bars. They couldn't see his good intentions were leading him down a path of tyranny and evil. That's how our greatest hero became our greatest threat," Wayne says as the Man of Steel is shown locked away powerless.

As Superman's regime begins to rebuild itself however, Batman is forced to rely on the help of others in order to stop them.

"Bruce consider widening your circle of trust. Nobody wins all by themselves, not even you," mentions Batman's trusted ally and Wayne Enterprises inventor Lucius Fox as the Dark Knight is seen meeting with Green Arrow, Black Canary, The Flash, Harley Quinn and Green Lantern who has left Superman's side.

The trailer also features confrontations between Green Lantern and Cyborg, The Flash and his arch-nemesis Reverse-Flash and Batman meeting Superman in battle.
