March 8 (UPI) -- Lance Armstrong talked about his former relationship with Sheryl Crow recently during aninterview on The Howard Stern Show.

"It was a good ride. She's a great lady. Obviously it didn't work out, but I think and I hope she's happy. I'm happy," the cyclist shared.

"I watched the Grammy's the other day, and we were like presenters at the Grammy's," he said, recalling the 2005 award show, when the couple presented Record of the Year in 2005. "At the time, I was like, 'I've got to go do what?'"

Armstrong also discussed the difficulty in being in a highly publicized relationship noting, "It's tough to pull it off. I mean, how many couples have been able to pull it off?"

"To her credit, she was a stay-at-home — one of the biggest rock stars — but she was a great partner. She was at the races. It wasn't like we never saw each other," he continued.

Armstrong and Crow started dating in 2003 and called it quits five months after getting engaged in February 2006.

In his book Lance, Armstrong wrote that the relationship ended because he wasn't ready to have more kids.

"She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids," Armstrong wrote. "Yet we're up against her biological clock — that pressure is what cracked it."
