John Mellencamp: Ex-girlfriend Meg Ryan 'hates me to death'

March 2 (UPI) -- John Mellencamp says ex-girlfriend Meg Ryan hates him "to death."

The 65-year-old singer claimed on Wednesday's episode of The Howard Stern Show that the 55-year-old actress hasn't wanted "anything do to with him" since they split again in 2015.

"Oh, women hate me. I loved Meg Ryan," Mellencamp said. "She hates me to death."

"She just doesn't want anything to do with me, and I don't blame her," he added. "I think it's because I'm a child. I throw fits, I gripe, I complain. I'm moody. Every bad thing that a fella can be, that's me."

Mellencamp and Ryan called it quits in August 2014 after three years of dating, but appeared to briefly rekindle their romance a few months later. People initially reported the couple, who live in Indiana and New York, respectively, split due to distance.

"I'm too sensitive to live [in New York]," Mellencamp told Rolling Stone in 2013. "I can't see poor people. I can't see the suffering. I can't see the trash on the streets ... I'm not leaving Indiana. I'm going to die here."

Mellencamp was previously married to Priscilla Esterline, Victoria Granucci and Elaine Irwin, and dated supermodel Christie Brinkley after his split from Ryan. The singer will release his 23rd studio album, Sad Clowns & Hillbillies, on April 28.
