Ruth Negga, Felicity Jones, Auli'i Cravalho are early arrivals on the Oscars red carpet

Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Many of the world's most glamorous stars have descended on the red carpet at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre for the 89th Academy Awards.

Among the early arrivals dressed to the nines were Ruth Negga, Hailee Steinfeld, Felicity Jones, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Taraji P. Henson, Kirsten Dunst, David Oyelowo, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Octavia Spencer, Lucas Hedges, Auli'i Cravalho, Dev Patel and Terrence Howard.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the gala, which recognizes excellence in film for 2016. The event will be televised live on ABC.

The contemporary musical La La Land goes into the evening with a leading 14 nominations.
