Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Singer/songwriter Joy Villa made a political statement Sunday at the Grammys by wearing a red, white and blue Donald Trump-themed dress. Villa unveiled the outfit while walking the Grammy red carpet where she first appeared wearing a long, white gown.

While camera's flashed, the 25-year-old tore off the gown to reveal the outfit in honor of President Trump featuring his campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" on the front and "Trump" printed across the back.
"Go big, or go home. You can either stand for what you believe or fall for what you don't," Villa wrote on Instagram afterwards.
"Above all make a choice for tolerance and love. Agree to disagree. See the person over the politics, carry yourself with dignity, always. Life is made to be lived, so go boldly and give no effs!" she continued.
The designer behind the dress, Filipino immigrant Andre Soriano, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the design.
"It's more so about love," he said of the outfit. "We all live on this planet. I've never been in the political arena. However, it's just so crazy that people are getting beat up because they voted for Trump, or this and that, someone wants to bomb the White House. I am an American, I moved here from the Philippines, and I highly believed in the trueness of what this country can bring. It's about bringing people together, that's the message."
Villa remarked on Instagram how sales of her EP I Make The Static have now surged on iTunes with the release now placing at number 16 on the top album chart.
