Maddie is the daughter of the entertainer's younger sister Jamie Lynn. The child was driving an ATV on her family's property in Louisiana Sunday afternoon when she veered into a pond while trying to avoid a drainage ditch. She reportedly was under water for about two minutes while her mother and stepfather struggled to free her from her seatbelt on the submerged vehicle.

Paramedics resuscitated Maddie and she was airlifted to a hospital. She regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday and the doctors treating her said she has since been awake and talking.

They also said it appears she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.
