Ashton Kutcher speaks out against travel ban at SAG Awards

Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Ashton Kutcher slammed President Donald Trump's executive order banning people traveling from some Muslim-majority countries as he presented the first award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

"Good evening, fellow SAG-AFTRA members, and everyone at home, and everyone in airports that belong in my America," the actor said onstage Sunday, days after Trump signed the executive order.

"You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you, and we welcome you," he continued.

Before appearing onstage, Kutcher took to social media to criticize the ban, pointing to his wife Mila Kunis' immigration to the United States.

"My wife came to this country on a refugee visa in the middle of the Cold War! My blood is boiling right now!" The Ranch star wrote on Twitter. "We have never been a nation built on fear. Compassion that is the root ethic of America. Our differences are fundamental 2R sustainability."

"If standing for the America that doesn't discriminate makes me a left wing actor who is out of touch. [Expletive] it," he continued following the awards show on Twitter. "I believe in protecting borders. I believe is enabling safety and security but we do so with honor. We are Americans. #ABetterWay."

Other stars attacked the immigration order at the SAG Awards including Julia Louis-Dreyfus who said, "This immigrant ban is a blemish and it is un-American," while Sarah Paulson urged viewers to donate to the American Civil Liberties Union, which filed a lawsuit against the ban.
