Nick Lachey enjoys the 'craziness' of having three kids

Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Nick Lachey says he likes the "craziness" of parenting three kids.

The 43-year-old singer discussed his home life in an interview with Us Weekly after welcoming son Phoenix with wife Vanessa Lachey in December.

"Part of the fun of kids is the craziness and you've got to embrace that side of it as well," Lachey told the magazine."

"I think the real chaos is going to come in a couple years when he's two and Brooklyn's four and Camden's six," he predicted. "Then I can just imagine it's going to be craziness ... [for now it's still] fairly mellow."

"Every day I wake the kids up," the star shared. "Morning time is kind of 'daddy time,' and that's something I look forward to every day."

Lachey and Vanessa share son Phoenix, who was born Dec. 25, 2-year-old daughter Brooklyn and 4-year-old son Camden. The couple married in the British Virgin Islands in 2011 after five years of dating.

"It's kind of cliché but communication is the biggest thing in a relationship," the singer said of his marriage in an interview with People this week. "You have to talk, you have to express yourselves. You don't want to look back and resent not being heard."

"I don't think there's necessarily anything that's rock solid about any marriage," he suggested. "It's all about that balance, especially when you have kids."

Lachey is best known as a member of the boy band 98 Degrees, and has also hosted the shows The Sing-Off, Big Morning Buzz Live and Lachey's: Raising the Bar. Vanessa last appeared on the NBC series Truth Be Told.
