NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The Pantone Color Institute has named spring shade "Greenery" as the Color of the Year.

"Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore and renew," the color expert company noted in a statement.

"Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate," they continued.

Pantone nominates a new color every year to give a "snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude."

"Greenery" follows in the footsteps of the more pastel "Rose Quartz" and "Serenity" from 2016 and the red-like "Marsala" from 2015.

The company released a video on their official Twitter account of "Greenery" in action as groups of people were shown enjoying the outdoors amongst fresh green grass while wearing bright clothing. "#Greenery symbolizes reconnection we seek with nature & all," they captioned the clip.
