New Kid Jonathan Knight engaged to longtime love Harley Rodriguez

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- New Kids on the Block's Jonathan Knight announced his engagement to his longtime boyfriend Harley Rodriguez on Tuesday.

Knight made the announcement while appearing on Jenny McCarthy's SiriusXM program, The Jenny McCarthy Show.

"We were in Africa, our parents were there -- our moms were there -- and I just figured this was the time to pop the question and make it official," Knight said.

McCarthy, who is married to Knight's NKOTB bandmate Donnie Wahlberg, pressed Knight for details on the proposal, saying she had "chills."

"We were on the Zambezi river, it's right above Victoria Falls," Knight said. "We took a night time raft dinner, just the four of us out on the river, there was like a hippopotamus in the background. "It was a super moon. It was just absolutely beautiful, it was so romantic."

Knight also revealed that he and Rodriguez have been waiting for the other to officially make the move, though he said they always considered themselves a married couple.

"I went out and bought rings about three weeks before we left for Africa," he said. "It just gets to a point where it's like, 'Okay, somebody's got to do it.'"
