J.K. Rowling says she hopes to bring 'Cursed Child' to Broadway

NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The West End blockbuster Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will eventually play Broadway, says J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Potter empire.

Rowling wrote seven Potter books, the story for the Jack Thorne-penned play Cursed Child and the screenplay for the Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Asked at a press conference in New York Thursday if she plans to adapt Beasts for the theater and if Cursed Child will some day be staged in the Big Apple, Rowling answered with a laugh: "There are no plans to put Fantastic Beasts onstage. Let us do the movies, OK, first!

"Cursed Child, we do very much hope it will come to Broadway, but I have no dates to tell you yet. But, certainly, we hope so. We hope it's going to come to Broadway."
