Jared Padalecki and wife Genevieve Cortese expecting third child

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Gilmore Girls and Supernatural star Jared Padalecki announced on Live with Kelly that he and wife Genevieve Cortese are expecting their third child.

Padalecki told Kelly Ripa and co-host contest winner Richard Curtis the story of how he and Cortese met on set of Supernatural.

"It was really special and unexpected," he said, sharing the two had their first date over lunch. "It turned into hanging out, talking about traveling, and turned into dinner."

Padalecki and Cortese were married in 2010 and are parents to Thomas, 4, and Shepherd, 2.

"When I started the show I was 22 years old," Padalecki said about how things have changed for him over the years. "I was a single guy, kind of doing my thing. Now I'm 12 years older, father of two -- about to be father of three in March."

The hosts offered their congratulations to the couple as Cortese thanked them from the side of the set.

Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel Harris are also expecting. The couple announced in August that they are expecting twins.

Padalecki is reprising his role as Dean on Gilmore Girls in Netflix's revival of the series later this month.
