Will Smith says he was 'teary' as son Jaden, actress Shailene Woodley were honored for activism

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Proud dad Will Smith shared a photo on Facebook of his son Jaden and actress Shailene Woodley after they were honored at a ceremony for their environmental activism.

"Congrats to Jaden and the inspiring Shailene Woodley. They were honored at the Environmental Media Awards as The EMA 'Futures.' They had me a little teary as I witnessed the next generations global agents of change!" the elder Smith captioned Tuesday's image of his child with his arm around Woodley's waist.

Jaden Smith, 18, was recognized for his commitment to clean-tech solutions.

Woodley, 24, was saluted just days after she was arrested during a peaceful protest against the building of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota.

Nicole Richie hosted the awards presentation at Warner Bros Studios.
