DENVER, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- WWE World Champion AJ Styles defended his title against unlikely hero James Ellsworth Tuesday on Smackdown Live.

The bout was made by general manager Daniel Bryan last week after Ellsworth pulled out an upset victory over Styles in a non-title match with help from special guest referee Dean Ambrose.

Looking to make Styles life a living hell, Ambrose was once again at ringside as a special guest time keeper where he kept interrupting the match in order to try and give Ellsworth an advantage.

Ellsworth, who became a fan favorite after appearing on Raw in July when he famously stated before facing off against Braun Strowman "Any man with two hands has a fighting chance," gave his all against Styles despite his smaller size and underdog status.

Unfortunately, Styles crushed Ellsworth's dreams by beating him down continually until the referee had to end the match in disqualification. Even though this leads to Styles keeping his title, Ambrose was quick to point out that Ellsworth now has two victories over the WWE World Champion.

Ambrose then got in the ring and delivered Dirty Deeds to Styles for good measure and raised Ellsworth's hand in victory. "Your winner ... the man who has more wins over @AJStylesOrg than @JohnCena, @REALEllsworth!," WWE wrote on Twitter of the moment.

On WWE's Network exclusive Talking Smack afterwards, Bryan explained to Styles that next week he will face off against Ambrose and should The Lunatic Fringe win, he will get another shot at the WWE World Championship.

Also on Smackdown Live, The Miz, along with The Spirit Squad, were able to get the best of Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and his partners Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno in a three-man tag match.
