NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Corey Feldman apologized for dropping the American flag on the ground before the start of his repeat performance on Today, Thursday morning. Feldman appeared on Today for a second time in the hopes of redeeming himself after backlash from his first performance in September.

Accompanied by his band of angels, Feldman performed his new song, "Take a Stand," which he said was "for America."
As the music started, Feldman dropped the small American flag he was holding and Today host Tamron Hall retrieved it from the floor following the performance.
Some viewers took to social media to chastise Feldman for his treatment of the flag.
The former 80s film star issued an apology exclusively to People, saying he was "deeply sorry."
"We were excited and grateful to be asked to return to the Today show, but there wasn't much time to prepare," Feldman explained. "We scrambled to find an American flag to use as a patriotic symbol at the last minute and with no rehearsal."
"Once I was on stage, my brain reverted to my choreography, which was to throw my hands up in the air with a peace sign. As a dancer, my instinct is to drop anything in my hands. In that live moment, it came off as wrong and for that I'm deeply sorry. It was the exact opposite of my intention," he said.
