NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Whoopi Goldberg is gearing up to release her own holiday sweater line.
The 60-year-old View host will launch a collection of "ugly" Christmas sweaters at Lord & Taylor and Hudson's Bay on Nov. 1.
"I love the season, I love the holidays. Holidays have always been very important to me and they were important to me as a kid, and I honor them," Goldberg told Women's Wear Daily.
"I have a lot of oddness in my brain [that inspired the designs]," she said. "They're fun and they're sweet and they're not nasty and they're not mean. They're very loving. And if you're going to do something for the holidays, why not something positive?"
The 11 unisex sweaters will retail for $139 each. Goldberg will promote the line at Lord & Taylor's Fifth Avenue store in New York on Nov. 15, and plans to wear her designs throughout the month of December on The View.
"[The collection was designed] for men and women, like myself, but if all goes as well as we think it will, we'll have fun, holiday 'ugly' sweaters for kids [next year]," the star revealed.
Goldberg told People the line won't fall into the typical "ugly" Christmas sweaters category. She said instead that the collection is "just fun" and "different," with a "sweet" meaning behind each design.
"There's [one with] a family where everybody looks kind of the same except one person," the television personality said. "And nobody really cares because it's family and it's the holidays ... it's really all about love and family and being good."
