Corey Feldman returns to 'Today' for second performance

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- After making waves with his September performance on Today, Corey Feldman returned to the show Thursday morning to perform his new song, "Take a Stand."

Feldman, backed once again by his angel bandmates, said the the hate he received for his first Today performance is the price of musical innovation.

"We're doing something new that hasn't been done before," Feldman said. "But it's all about innovation and being an artist and we can't be afraid to share our art."

"This song is for America," Feldman said before the performance.

Feldman, best known for his roles in The Goonies, Stand By Me, and The Lost Boys, defended his sobriety to People, after critics of his original performance questioned whether he was back on drugs.

"There's nothing in this world that would ever make me do cocaine or heroin or any of that stuff ever again," he said.

Feldman credited a friend of his with helping him put the backlash into perspective.

"A friend of mine... said think of it this way," Feldman explained, "when Kiss first started, when Eminem first started, when Nirvana first started, they all got hate... because it didn't make sense to them at that time, but those all became amazing legends."

"That really turned it around for me," he added. "I'm like, 'you know, you're right.' A lot of people get hate in the beginning."
