LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Gwyneth Paltrow considers her daughter, Apple Martin, a "super ballsy" and adventurous girl.
The 44-year-old actress said in the November issue of Harper's Bazaar that she "one hundred percent" encourages her 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, Moses Martin, to take risks despite their celebrity status.
"In my case, I've borne these two kids into a particularly strange circumstance," Paltrow explained. "They are going to have to fend off a lot and protect themselves from a lot of projections and prejudice about who they are, coming from the family that they come from."
"My daughter is super ballsy. I always follow her lead. I actually don't need to encourage her to take risks. She likes to push herself; she wants to see how far she can get. It's really inspiring to see that in a young woman," she said.
Paltrow herself grew up in similar circumstances as the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and the late producer Jake Paltrow. The actress told the magazine her parents, too, encouraged her to "achieve things for [herself]" at a young age.
"My father was really good at having me stand on my own two feet, both financially and philosophically," she said. "His whole parenting philosophy was to give my brother and me the skills to be grown-ups and the curiosity to ask the right questions."
"My drive is something that I don't fully understand. I don't know if I came to this life with it or if it's something that came to me in my childhood, but I do feel that some of the things my parents said to me and how they raised me really stuck with me," the star added.
Paltrow shares her kids with Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, from whom she split in 2014 after 10 years of marriage. The actress told LinkedIn in September that she "didn't anticipate [the] fallout" of announcing their "conscious uncoupling" on her website, Goop.
