DENVER, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- WWE has announced that retired professional wrestler Bill Goldberg is set to return on Raw next week in order to address Brock Lesnar's challenge.

The announcement comes after Lesnar's advocate Paul Heyman appeared alone on Raw Monday to challenge Goldberg to a match.

"Goldberg, you sir are hereby challenged to a FIGHT!! One on one. Icon vs. icon. Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg!," Heyman said.

Goldberg responded to Heyman on Twitter writing, "Booking my flight to answer that big mouth @HeymanHustle 's challenge next week in person on #MondayNightRaw #WhosNext? #seeyathere."

Lesnar was said to be interested in a match to avenge a previous loss to the former World Heavyweight Champion after Goldberg had stated on ESPN's Sports Center that if he were to make an in-ring comeback, he would like to battle The Beast once again.

Rumors began swirling that Goldberg was set for a WWE return back in May when the 49-year-old was announced as a playable character in the company's recently released video game, WWE 2K17.

In August, Lesnar who is featured on the game's cover, called out Goldberg stating "Hey Bill, you're next," a reference to Goldberg's signature catch-phrase.

The two behemoths previously collided at WrestleMania 20 in 2004 which ended with Goldberg's hand raised in victory.
