LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- John Legend performed his new single "Love Me Now" on Facebook Live and gushed about his daughter Luna and wife Chrissy Teigen.

Legend's new song, off his upcoming Darkness & Light album, is about "loving for today," the singer said.

"[It's about] really just making the most of every moment with the people you love," Legend said.

"The sound is pretty similar to my older stuff," he said about the album. "It's still very soulful, a lot of great musicians on the album, and I sing a lot about love still."

"But obviously, I have a new love in my life in addition to my wife, of course we have a little baby girl Luna. So I sing a little bit about her too," he added.

Darkness & Light will feature collaborations with Chance the Rapper, and Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes, among other artists.

In addition to "Love Me Now," Legend also shared some background on another song from the album, this one inspired by 5-month-old daughter Luna.

"Well, I wrote a song for Luna, it's called "Right By You," Legend said. "I think as you grow and you're writing honestly and telling your truth, then whatever new experiences you have will affect how you write. So I'm definitely affected by being a dad and you'll hear that on the new album."
