LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Scott Patterson, who played grumpy, flannel-wearing diner owner Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls, surprised fans at one of the diner's pop-up shops on Wednesday.

Patterson, clad in a Luke-appropriate flannel shirt and baseball cap, showed up at the Comoncy Cafe in Beverly Hills to a crowd who serenaded him with the Gilmore Girls theme song.

Patterson got to work inside the makeshift Luke's, handing out cups of coffee to the hundreds of fans who lined up around the block.

Comoncy was one of more than 200 restaurants and cafes across the country to transform into the iconic Stars Hollow diner on the anniversary of the Gilmore Girls premiere and in promotion of the new episodes which will premiere on Netflix.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will feature four 90-minute episodes and premiere on Nov. 25.
