AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Luke Cage bad guy Mahershala Ali is in talks to take on another villain role in James Cameron's upcoming film Alita: Battle Angel.

Ali, who plays Cottonmouth on Netflix's Luke Cage, will reportedly join the cast as Vector for Cameron's film adaptation of the graphic novels alongside Rose Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley, Ed Skrein and Keann Johnson.

Alita, which was also adapted into an anime, takes place in the 26th century and follows a female cyborg with no memories of her previous life who is rescued from a dump by a professor and takes on a new career as a bounty hunter.

Cameron will produce and Robert Rodriguez will direct the film, which is set to start shooting this month in Austin.
