Daniel Radcliffe on racism in Hollywood: 'It's pretty undeniable'

LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- In an interview with the BBC, Daniel Radcliffe said racism in Hollywood is "pretty undeniable."

"We like to think of ourselves as being a very, very progressive industry," he said, "but we have been lagging behind in all kinds of areas that have been very well documented."

The actor also said that he finds Donald Trump's candidacy for president both "fascinating and terrifying."

"There's part of me that just kind of can't believe that this unbelievably wealthy, privileged man has somehow managed to convince people he's not part of the elite and that he's a man of the people," Radcliffe said.

"There's sort of an argument that a vote for him is a vote against political correctness," he continued. "I just think political correctness serves a purpose."

Radcliffe rose to fame as Harry Potter in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's series of novels.

Radcliffe said recently that's he'd never "close the door" on reprising his Potter role, but is in no rush to put his robe back on.

"Maybe if 30 years had passed I would be thinking differently," he said.
