LONDON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Adele tweeted a photo of late singer Amy Winehouse on Wednesday on what would have been the fellow soul singer's 33rd birthday.

Adele tweeted the photo of a smiling, dressed-down Winehouse, without her trademark beehive and thick liquid eyeliner, along with the caption, "Happy Birthday Amy X."

Adele has spoken about her love for Winehouse before, crediting the fellow British powerhouse and her 2003 debut album Frank, with setting her career in motion.

"If it wasn't for Amy and Frank, 100% I wouldn't have picked up a guitar," Adele said in a 2015 interview. "I wouldn't have written 'Daydreamer' or 'Hometown,' and I wrote 'Someone Like You' on the guitar too."

Winehouse lost her battle with addiction in 2011 at the age of 27.
