NEW YORK, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Kaia Gerber says mom Cindy Crawford has taught her so much more than modeling.

The 15-year-old model reflected on the 50-year-old supermodel's influence while accepting Female Model of the Year at the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards on Thursday.

"The truth is the things she teaches me go deeper than what pose to make or what my good side is," Gerber said. "She teaches me to be kind, punctual ... and to stand up for myself. And when I think about it, aren't these things every mother should teach their daughter?"

Gerber attended the event with Crawford, dad Rande Gerber and brother Presley Gerber by her side. She did reveal Crawford's best modeling advice in an interview with Entertainment Tonight prior to accepting the award.

"She told me to have a thought behind every picture, every expression, so that you are not just, like, staring, [or] blank behind your yes. You have a reason for what you're doing," the teenager explained.

Gerber, who signed a contract with IMG Models at age 13, was named the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty the same day as the awards show. She recently landed her first-ever solo magazine cover, appearing on the autumn/winter cover of Pop magazine.

"It's not like I ever dreamed it could happen because it's all I dreamed about," she said of her burgeoning career in the interview. "But I never thought it'd happen this early."
