LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Sofia Richie says she and rumored boyfriend Justin Bieber have something special. The 18-year-old American model opened up about her highly publicized romance with the 22-year-old Canadian singer in the Sept. 17 issue of Billboard magazine.

"We have a special relationship," the star said of herself and Bieber. "Justin is very easy to talk to, and that's hard to find with people in Los Angeles."
Richie and Bieber were first linked in August following a number of outings in Los Angeles. The singer temporarily deleted his Instagram account after fans attacked Richie, the daughter of Lionel Richie and sister to Nicole Richie, in the comments.
"I remember the paparazzi and the [expletive] people would say to Nicole, and she wouldn't respond. I'm going to be real with you: It. Doesn't. Bother. Me. As long as I'm happy," Richie said of the backlash.
The Material Girl model and Bieber recently embarked on a tropical getaway to celebrate Richie's 18th birthday. The pair were spotted kissing as they lounged at their hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
"Justin treats Sofia really well," a source told E! News at the time. "[They] started as really good friends so they have a great foundation. They have not discussed titles yet with each other, just taking it slow. Sofia would like to be exclusive."
Richie signed with Select Model Management at age 16 in 2014 and has since appeared in Vogue China and Vanity Fair Italy. Bieber released his fourth studio album, Purpose, in November.
