LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Eva Mendes says daughter Amada fits perfectly into her growing family. The 42-year-old actress couldn't help but gush about the 4-month-old while promoting her new Eva Mendes x New York and Company collection in an interview with E! News.

"It's not that different because this little Amada is an angel. She's such an angel that it hasn't changed that much yet," Mendes said of her family's dynamic. "I feel like in a few months, once she really starts having a voice, I think it'll maybe be a little bit louder."
"They definitely come with their own stuff and it's pretty great," she added of her daughter's emerging personality. "I feel like my job is just to get out of their way and protect them, but let them be who they are."
Mendes and partner Ryan Gosling welcomed Amada in April. The couple, who met on the set of Place Beyond the Pines in 2011, are also parents to daughter Esmeralda, who turns 1 year old on Monday.
"Right now it's really about surviving those nights and trying to enjoy this time as much as possible with them," the actress previously said in the September issue of Latina magazine. "It's a really, really special time. I'm loving it."
"It would definitely take something really special [for me to go back to work]," she revealed. "Right now I feel very fortunate to be home with my kids. I feel so lucky, and I'm just taking advantage of that."
Mendes last appeared in Gosling's directorial debut, Lost River, which premiered at the 2014 Cannes International Film Festival. The 35-year-old actor will next star in La La Land with Emma Stone.
