Chris Brown released from jail on $250,000 bond following assault charge

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Chris Brown was released from jail Tuesday on a $250,000 bond after he was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The singer's attorney Mark Geragos confirmed the news on Twitter writing, "Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy."

Brown was arrested Tuesday following an hours long standoff with police in which the 27-year-old remained inside his hilltop Tarzana home as authorities awaited a warrant to enter.

Police were called to the residence after a woman, pageant queen Baylee Curran, called 911 to claim that Brown had pointed a gun at her during a fit of rage inside his home. In an interview with E! News, Curran said that she feared for her life after she was confronted about admiring some jewelry that was on display.

"I admired this one piece, a diamond cross necklace. I did not pick it up, I did not touch it, take it or grab it, anything to that sort," she said. After being told not to touch the jewelry, Curran said "that's when Chris Brown kind of went off, pulled out a gun and said, 'Get the [expletive] out.'"

During his standoff with police, Brown posted a series of now deleted videos on Instagram in which he denied any wrongdoing.

"I ain't did (expletive). I ain't going to do (expletive)," he added. "And it's always going to be be (expletive) the police, black lives matter (expletive)," he said in one video.

"I don't care y'all going to stay playing with me like I'm the villain out here, like I'm going crazy," the rapper continued. "You guys got me (expletive) up though because good luck when you get the warrant or whatever you need to do. You're going to walk right up in here and you're going to see nothing you idiots. I'm tired of (expletive) dealing with you all, y'all the worst gang in the world, the police, and I said it."

Brown is set to appear in court on Sept. 20 according to Sheriff's records obtained by Us Weekly.
