LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Celebrities have taken to social media to mourn the passing of Gene Wilder, who starred in nearly 30 films over four decades. Wilder died on Monday at the age of 83.

Fellow funnyman Jim Carrey said, "Gene Wilder was one of the funniest and sweetest energies ever to take a human form. If there's a heaven he has a Golden Ticket," referring to Wilder's best-known role as Willy Wonka in the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
