LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- The pioneering pro wrestler known as Mr. Fuji has died, the WWE said Sunday. He was 82.
Harry Fujiwara was a Hall of Fame wrestler and manager over two decades in the WWWF and WWF, precursors to WWE and his ring character was known as master of psychology who threw salt in his opponents eyes. He was also half of five WWE World Tag Team Champions.
Fujiwara was born in Honolulu in 1935, and got his start as a pro wrestler in 1965 under the name Mr. Fujiwara. Eventually he moved to the West Coast and shortened his moniker to Mr. Fuji and appeared in a black tuxedo and bowler hat.
He also managed various wrestling stars like Kamala, George "The Animal" Steele and most famously "Magnificent" Don Muraco.
Fuji switched to training dojos from 1997 through 2001 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
