NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Sean "Diddy" Combs and girlfriend Cassie attended the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The 46-year-old rapper and 30-year-old singer put on a united front at the annual awards ceremony following rumors of a split this month.
Diddy and Cassie had initially reunited Friday for the singer's 30th birthday. Diddy, who threw his longtime love a glamorous party to mark the occasion, gushed about Cassie to E! News on the VMAs red carpet.
"The birthday party was incredible. She's such a special person. Her friends and family came around and it was great," the rapper said.
"It was so much fun. Thirty is a milestone," Cassie later added. "[The] love is real. Love is always real."
TMZ had reported Aug. 19 that Diddy and Cassie broke up after "a heated argument" that ended with the singer's mom calling the cops. Sources told E! after the birthday bash that the longtime couple had reconciled.
"[They're officially] back together," an insider said. "Diddy won't ever let Cassie get away. He loves her so much."
Diddy was on hand at the VMAs to present the Best Hip Hop Video award. Drake, who has a fraught history with the rapper, won for "Hotline Bling" but was stuck in traffic and unable to immediately claim the award.
