LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Karlie Kloss is setting the record straight on her recent comments on Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian.

The 24-year-old model claimed the media twisted her words after she appeared to compliment Kardashian in a new interview. Kardashian and Swift, one of Kloss' best friends, have been publicly feuding for months.

"I will not allow the media to misconstrue my words. Taylor has always had my back and I will always have hers," Kloss tweeted Monday. "And I will never be the girl that you can use to pit women against each other. That isn't me."

The former Victoria's Secret Angel had been discussing bullying with the Sunday Times when she was questioned about Kardashian. She initially hesitated when asked if the reality star is "a good person."

"Ha... you know... I honestly... I... I...," the star said. "I think she's been a lovely person to me in the past. Look, I really don't know her that well."

Fans immediately jumped on Kloss' remarks and accused the model of being disloyal to Swift. The "Bad Blood" singer has a fraught history with Kardashian's husband, Kanye West, and most recently clashed with the couple over West's song "Famous."

Kloss and Swift seemed to be on good terms earlier this month when the singer posted a sweet birthday message to Kloss on Instagram. She later performed with Nelly at Kloss and Mike Hess' joint birthday party.

"I love you Karlie! You're such an exquisite person, always trying to make things better for others. Every day I'm inspired by how giving, loving and thoughtful you are. Happy 24th birthday!" Swift wrote Aug. 3.
