Leslie Jones on Rio Olympics: 'It's a time where all of us can forget about all the B.S.'

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Leslie Jones believes that the Summer Olympics is a time for the Untied States to band together.

"It's a time where all of us can forget about all the B.S. that's going on and come together and compete as a country," the Ghostbusters star said Saturday amongst cheers alongside Ryan Seacrest as part of NBC's coverage of the event.

Jones, who arrived in Rio Thursday after being invited to help host the Olympics by NBC producer Jim Bell due to her epic live-tweets, also shared her excitement for Michael Phelps' winning his 23rd Olympic gold medal after announcing he would be retiring.

"The USA swimming team made that pool their [expletive]!" she said. "All of them were straight warriors!"

On Sunday, Jones continued live-tweeting, sharing in the excitement of Jamaica's Usain Bolt winning the gold medal in the 100m. "He is awesome y'all," she wrote alongside a video of the athlete pointing to the crowd after his victory. Jones can be heard in the background referring to Bolt as a "champion."

Jones' live-tweeting marked a return to Twitter for Jones who took a break from the social media site after she became the target of a hate campaign surrounding her role in Ghostbusters. Several users were permanently banned from Twitter after the incident including noted conservative commentator Milo Yiannopoulos.
