LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Donald Glover told a panel at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour on Tuesday that he is banking on his new show Atlanta to create some controversy.

The series, which tells the story of two cousins trying to make it in Atlanta's rap scene, is setting out to tackle some serious issues along the way.

"The thesis with the show," Glover said, "was kind of to show people how it felt to be black."

"What was important to me was that this show was personal and had a specific take, because that's all you can really ask for from a show nowadays, is having a specific point of view on something," he said.

Glover also talked about not wanting to parlay his successful rap career as Childish Gambino onto Atlanta.

"I wouldn't have enjoyed that," he said. "It's possible to so that but then ... that makes it harder for me to do music. It just clouds a lot of things."

One thing Glover didn't cloud during the panel was his disdain for Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump, which came up when Glover was talking about why he didn't return to the show Community for its final season.

"I just like endings. I think everything should have death clauses," he said. "Thank God, one day Trump is gonna die. That is guaranteed. That is awesome."

Community's TV run might be over, but creator Dan Harmon is considering the possibility of making a Community movie.

Glover hasn't said if he would participate.

Atlanta premieres on FX on Sept. 6 at 10 p.m.
