LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Anne Hathaway is rejecting society's post-baby body standards.

The 33-year-old actress shared a body-positive message this week on Instagram, less than five months after welcoming son Jonathan with husband Adam Shulman.

"There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever)," she wrote to her 5.3 million followers. "There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).

"There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer's are just too dang short for this summer's thighs," she added. "Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It's all love."

Hathaway, who married Shulman in Big Sur, Calif., in 2012, gave birth to her son in March. The actress later told Ellen DeGeneres she wasn't worried about her weight, despite a negative encounter at the gym.

"Being a mom has changed me in a couple ways. One of them is I actually -- not based on this moment, but other moments -- I feel a lot more confident," she said. "So, when I walk into the gym [I feel better]."

"[I'm like], 'I don't care what I look like, I feel great,'" the star shared. "So I say to this [trainer], 'I had a baby seven weeks ago,' and he goes, 'Oh! Trying to lose the baby weight?' I muster up my dignity and I say, 'No ... it's a little bit too soon to worry about weight.'"

Fellow actress Blake Lively shared similar sentiments this week on Sunrise, calling post-baby body standards "unfair." Hathaway will next star in the sci-fi thriller Colossal and has reportedly joined the cast of Ocean's Eight.
