LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Sean Hayes and Rosie O'Donnell have joined the cast of NBC's Hairspray Live!

Hayes will play Mr. Pinky, owner of Mr. Pinky's Hefty Hideaway, who sponsors Tracy. O'Donnell will take on the role of the gym teacher.

The current cast includes Harvey Fierstein as Edna Turnblad, Jennifer Hudson as Motormouth Maybelle, Ariana Grande as Penny Pingleton, Kristin Chenoweth as Velma von Tussle, Derek Hough as Corny Collins, Martin Short as Wilbur Turnblad, Maddie Baillio as Tracy Turnblad, Dove Cameron as Amber von Tussle, and Garrett Clayton as Link Larkin.

Fans are still waiting on casting announcements for Seaweed and Little Inez.

Unlike NBC's last three live musicals which have been shot on a soundstage in New York, Hairspray is being produced on a Universal backlot and will utilize outdoor space.

"We are organically going outside when the text calls for us to go outside," said director Kenny Leon.
