BURBANK, Calif., July 27 (UPI) -- Netflix and developer FTX Games are teaming up for a new mobile video game based on Narcos that will allow players to run their own drug empire.

The game, entitled Narcos: Cartel Wars, is set to be released this September for iOS and Android devices. The title will involve building up a criminal organization and gaining power and loyalty along the way just as the drama's real-life main subject Pablo Escobar did in his heyday.

"Step into the dangerous and thrilling role of cartel kingpin in the official game of the hit television show Narcos," reads the game's official synopsis. "Decide between leading through raw power or gathering respect through loyalty. Sometimes bad people do good things... In the end you must decide, will it be "Plata o Plomo"?

"There is money and power to be made. From now on, nowhere is safe," it continues.

"We're huge fans of Narcos ourselves, so we're thrilled to be expanding upon one of the most dangerous, exhilarating, and creative worlds television has offered in a long time," noted head of business development at FTX Games Araon Berndtson to Entertainment Weekly.

"Narcos is about a lot more than violence, money and power. We really wanted to explore the moral ambiguity from the show, where right and wrong are subjective. We're very excited to put these choices into the player's hands."

Recently, Netflix released the first trailer for Season 2 of Narcos which featured Escobar on the run from the police. The hit drama returns to Netflix on Sept. 2.
