SAN DIEGO, July 22 (UPI) -- Fox is bringing The Rocky Horror Picture Show back to life with a small screen adaptation set to air on Oct. 20.

Fans at Comic Con got a first look at the remake which stars Laverne Cox as the "sweet transvestite" Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Adam Lambert as Eddie, Christina Milian as Magenta, and teen TV stars Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan as Janet and Brad.

The 1975 film has developed a huge cult following thanks, in part, to decades of interactive midnight movie theater showings which director Kenny Ortega has integrated into the remake by including scenes featuring a movie theater crowd.

The Comic Con crowd was treated to the first 25 minutes of the new version of Rocky Horror, and their reaction did much to alleviate the fear of remaking a classic.

"I think our biggest fear just went away," said executive producer Lou Adler, who also worked on the original film.

Unlike Fox's successful reboot of Grease earlier this year, Rocky Horror won't air live. But it does include an appearance by the original Frank-n-Furter, Tim Curry, who lends his talents as the narrator.
