Lady Gaga, Lenny Kravitz among headliners for DNC concert

CLEVELAND, July 20 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga, a vocal Democrat, will join Lenny Kravitz and DJ Jazzy Jeff performing at the Camden Rising concert Thursday as part of the Democratic National Convention, taking place in Philadelphia.

They are set to take the stage hours before presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is expected to get the nomination for the 2016 presidential election. The concert will take place just across the river at the BB&T Pavilion, Billboard reported.

Gaga, who is now stranger to politics, has endorsed Clinton in her run for the White House, regularly voicing her support and tweeting her support for the former Secretary of State throughout the campaign, CNN reported.

George Norcross, a state Democratic power broker and a member of the Democratic National Committee will cohost the Camden Rising concert with Susan McCue, a co-chair of the Senate Majority PAC.

"With the Philadelphia skyline in the background, it is a perfect time to shine a light on Camden's history and promise," said Norcross. chairman of Camden's Cooper University Healthcare and the MD Anderson Cancer Center. "We are happy to be able to invite the staff and volunteers of the Democratic Convention to what we expect to be one of the largest, most exciting events of the convention. The concert will not only be an excellent opportunity for everyone who has helped make the convention a success to relax and celebrate, but it will be a great chance to show the country Camden's amazing turnaround."

Rapper Snoop Dogg will lead the concert called "Unity Party" for Democratic donors on the same day at Philadelphia's Electric Factory. That concert also features Los Lobos.
