The town continues to remember the life of the actor and comedian during Knotts Weekend, WDTV reported.

The unveiling takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday after which Knotts' daughter, Karen Knotts, is scheduled to perform a comedy show about growing up with her legendary dad.

Knotts is best known as the goofy deputy Barney Fife to Andy Griffith's Sheriff Andy Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show, which originally aired on CBS from 1960 to 1968 and has been re-run on television ever since.

He also starred in the comedy films The Ghost and Mrs. Chicken and The Incredible Mr. Limpet and played landlord Ralph Furley in the 1970s and early 1980s television sitcom Three's Company.

Knotts died in 2006 at age 81.
