LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- Star Wars was trending big Monday, with Felicity Jones, the first to give fans a taste of Rogue One, introducing her own action figure for Jyn Erso and with Lucasfilms announcing a new virtual reality project featuring Darth Vader.

This is the first time the Star Wars movie line has been kicked off with a female figure, Nerdist reported.

A classic Star Wars hero profile, Jones' plastic persona as Jyn has her wearing fashion much like that of Han Solo or Poe Dameron. The 6-inch action figure was revealed at a panel hosted by Gwendoline Christie, whose own Captain Phasma action figure has yet to be unveiled.

The movie is set for release in December.

As for that virtual reality project being developed by Lucasfilms ILMxLab, it is being written by David S. Goyer, who also wrote Call of Duty: Black Ops. The company previewed the as-yet-unnamed project at a huge Star Wars celebration in London over the weekend, Variety reported.

"What character is so iconic that we need to know more? [Where] we can't sleep at night and want to experience things that can't be experienced in film, or can't be experienced in a novel," Goyer said. That would be Darth Vader.

Already, Lucasfilm has rolled out a teaser for the project that has yet to be given a timeline for release. Still, Goyer was clear that the project has a way to go. He said he's not yet even sure if participants should be called "viewers" or "players."

"You don't play it," he said, "you be it. You're in it. You're part of the story.

"The world I came up with, that I'm pushing, is you are 'the visitor' – the visitor in this story that's happening around you that you may have some effect on," Goyer said. "You can pick up things, you can open things, you can push things. You can walk and touch characters. Imagine being in a movie," Vanity Fair reported.

It is still another year or two away from release, he said.
