LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- Daveed Diggs, who took his final curtain in Hamilton last week, has landed his first movie role beside Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay in Wonder.

The studio Lionsgate confirmed the lineup with USA Today. The movie is based on the novel by R.J. Palacio.

The singer rapper and actor will play the role of a teacher for Tremblay who will portray Auggie, a student with a facial deformity that precludes him from attending a mainstream school. Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts will play Tremblay's parents in the film.

Diggs' upcoming gigs also include a new comedy mockumentary Tour De Pharmacy, which pokes fun at the doping scandals connected with cycling, Empire reported.

In addition, Diggs will appear in an episode of Baz Luhrmann's The Get Down, which begins airing on Netflix next month.

ABC's black-ish creator Kenya Barris is also reportedly hoping to get Diggs on the show's third season. He said he's had Diggs on his radar since seeing Hamilton.

The Tony Award winner performed over 400 shows with Hamilton, playing the roles of Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.
